Near Drowning Save on Memorial Day Weekend
On Saturday, May 28th at 2:32pm, units were dispatched to the Richmar Apartments' Pool for a drowning. Upon arrival, crews found lifeguards performing CPR on an unresponsive male juvenile. The AED from E312 was used to administer one shock, at which point the juvenile slowly started responding. The combined efforts the lifeguards, Engine 312, Medic 19 (Garrison), and EMS 8 made this a successful save. The child is still recovering at a local hospital. This event highlights the importance of immediately calling 911, starting CPR, and applying an AED as quickly as possible.
