Life Member and First Riding Female Member Mary Pinkas, Dies at Age 86
Mary Margaret Pinkas, (nee Meisel), 86, of Owings Mills, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 6, 2015 at Seasons Hospice at Northwest Hospital in Randallstown. Born April 25, 1929 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Casper Meisel, Sr. and Elizabeth Anne Henning Meisel. She was wife of the late Paul Peter Pinkas, Sr. to whom she married at St. Anthony’s Parish in Baltimore in July of 1949. She is lovingly survived by ten children: Paul, Jr., Bernard, Stephen and wife Anita, Gerard and wife Maria, Mary, Cecelia, Carmel Mazelofsky and her late husband Bradley, Joseph and wife Kathy, Theresa Horner and husband Thomas, Elizabeth Diehl and husband Rodney; her siblings John and Frank Meisel, and Betty Jakum; and was a devoted Grandma and adoring Great-Grandma “GG”. She is predeceased by her siblings Joseph Meisel, Jr., Anne Scheuerman, and Carmel Meyer.
Mary spent the majority of her of life as a dedicated homemaker/caregiver who, in addition to her family, enjoyed her pet cats, crocheting, reading, and volunteering at the local Owings Mills Volunteer Fire Department whereby she was a Life Member. She originally joined the fire department as a member of The Ladies Auxiliary but soon became certified with the necessary classes to become the first female EMT/Paramedic assisting on ambulance calls in the community for numerous years. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Parish in Glyndon for the majority of her life where she was also known to volunteer.
The family will receive friends 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, December 11, 2015 at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills with a Mass celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 65 Sacred Heart Lane, Glyndon.
